1959年、長野県辰野町生まれ、東京都育ち。1986年、東京藝術大学美術学部建築科卒業後、土屋巌建築設計事務所に勤務、土屋巌に師事して、医療福祉施設、学校教育施設、社会教育施設、大学キャンパス計画などのプロジェクトに参画する。1998年に退所後、ジオアーキテクチュア一級建築士事務所を設立、東京と栃木県那珂川町の二つの拠点を中心に活動する。2001年、宇都宮大学専任講師に着任。助教授、准教授を経て、2009年、教授。2025年、名誉教授となり、ナカリバデザイン一級建築士事務所を那珂川町に共同設立。地域プロジェクトとデザイン教育との関係を研究するかたわら、地域環境を生かした住宅や別荘、コミュニティ施設、医療福祉施設などの建築設計を行っている。そのほか、ランドスケープデザイン、ロゴマーク・サイン・パッケージ・ 印刷物などのグラフィックデザイン及びアートディレクション、家具や学習具などのプロダクトデザイン、ダンスパフォーマンスの舞台美術などを手がける。2016年、宇都宮美術館との共創プロジェクト「地域産業とデザイン〜宮の注染を拓く〜」でグッドデザイン賞受賞。一方、2001年栃木県那珂川町に、全国初となる障害者の芸術活動を支援・展示する拠点「もうひとつの美術館」を明治大正期の廃校校舎を活用して共同設立し、活動を続けている。日本建築家協会会員・登録建築家、一級建築士、日本建築学会会員、栃木県マロニエ建築賞審査委員長、那珂川町馬頭広重美術館協議会委員。

Born in Tatsuno, Nagano Prefecture, in 1959. Originally from Tokyo. After graduating from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 1986, he worked at Iwao Tsuchiya Architects, where he studied under Iwao Tsuchiya and participated in projects such as medical and welfare facilities, school education facilities, social education facilities, and university campus planning. After leaving the firm in 1998, he founded Geoarchitecture First Class Architect Office, and has been active mainly in Tokyo and Nakagawa, Tochigi Prefecture. In 2001, he became a full-time lecturer at Utsunomiya University, where he served as assistant professor and associate professor before becoming a professor in 2009. In 2025, he became a professor emeritus and co-founded Nakariba Design First Class Architect Office in Nakagawa. While researching the relationship between community projects and design education, he designs architectural projects that utilize the local environment, including homes, vacation homes, community facilities, and medical and welfare facilities. He also works on graphic design and art direction for logos, signs, packaging, printed materials, etc., product design for furniture and educational materials, and stage art for dance performances. In 2016, he won the Good Design Award for the co-creation project with Utsunomiya Museum of Art, “Local Industry and Design – Developing Miya’s Chusen Dyeing.” Meanwhile, in 2001, he co-founded “Museum of aiternative Art,” Japan’s first center for supporting and exhibiting the artistic activities of people with disabilities, in Nakagawa Town, Tochigi Prefecture, utilizing an abandoned school building from the Meiji and Taisho periods, and continues to work there. He is a member of the Japan Institute of Architects, a registered architect, a first-class architect, a member of the Architectural Institute of Japan, the chairman of the judging committee for the Tochigi Prefecture Marronnier Architecture Award and a member of the Nakagawa Town Batou Hiroshige Museum Council.

2000年、栃木県鹿沼市生まれ、鹿沼市育ち。2020年より梶原研究室に所属し、「日本財団みらいの福祉施設建築プロジェクト」や「宇都宮大学農学部100周年記念碑プロジェクト」への参画のほか、ロゴマークやサイン、印刷物などのグラフィックを手がける。2022年から翌年にかけて行った栃木県那須郡那珂川町での「地域の居場所」設計提案をきっかけに那珂川町地域おこし協力隊としての活動を開始し、2024年には子どもたちの地域の居場所として「コミュニティスペースHITOTEMA」を開館した。2025年に地域おこし協力隊を退任し、建築設計やデザイン、地域プロジェクトを展開する合同会社ナカリバデザインを共同設立。また、設計やデザインワークの傍ら、地域コーディネーターとして町内中学校・高校や県内の大学との地域連携活動に対する支援を行うほか、地域と連携した教育に関する各種委員会への参加や講演活動などを通して、地域教育の重要性を発信している。

From 2020, he belonged to the Kajiwara Laboratory, where he participated in projects such asThe Nippon Foundation Future Welfare Facility Architecture Project and theUtsunomiya University Faculty of Agriculture 100th Anniversary Monument Project, while also working on graphic design including logos, signage, and printed materials.In 2022, his proposal for designing a “community place” in Nakagawa Town, Nasu District, Tochigi Prefecture, led him to begin activities as a Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team member (2023–2025).In 2024, he opened Community Space HITOTEMA, a local gathering place for children. After completing his term as a Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team member in 2025, he co-founded Naka-river Design LLC, engaging in architectural design, graphic design, and community-based projects. Alongside his design practice, he supports regional collaboration activities between local junior high schools, high schools, and universities as a community coordinator, and actively promotes the importance of community-based education through participation in educational committees and public lectures.
